BikeSafe, Ennis 25th August
On Sunday, 25th August, Ennis Roads Policing Unit (RPU) proudly hosted their second BikeSafe Course of the year. The event brought together six keen motorcyclists, all eager to enhance their skills and knowledge on the road. BikeSafe, a well-regarded motorcycle safety initiative, aims to reduce the number of motorcyclists killed or seriously injured on our roads by equipping riders with the tools and insights needed to stay safe.
The day kicked off at Ennis Garda Station with a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation that covered essential aspects of road safety, advanced riding techniques, and the system of motorcycle control. The presentation provided participants with a solid theoretical foundation before they hit the road. After the session, everyone enjoyed a well-deserved coffee break, allowing participants to discuss the insights from the presentation and get to know one another better.
Following the coffee break, the riders embarked on a three-hour ride, which served as the practical component of the course. During this time, participants were able to put the learned principles into action under the watchful guidance of experienced motorcyclists from the Ennis RPU. The practical ride allowed the participants to receive immediate feedback, refine their riding techniques, and adopt safer riding habits.
As the day progressed, it was evident that all participants were making significant strides in their motorcycling skills. By the end of the day, there was unanimous agreement among the riders that their motorcycling abilities had noticeably improved. They expressed appreciation for the personalized guidance they received, which helped them identify areas for improvement and develop greater confidence in their riding.
Overall, the BikeSafe Course proved to be a tremendous success. Participants not only gained valuable skills but also formed connections with fellow motorcyclists who share a commitment to safe riding. Each rider left the course feeling more confident and knowledgeable, with a renewed commitment to riding safely and responsibly.
We look forward to hosting more BikeSafe Courses in the future and continuing our mission to improve motorcycle safety on our roads. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or just starting, these courses offer invaluable insights and practical advice that can make all the difference in keeping you safe on your journeys.
