Garda Síochána takes part in this year’s North West 200
Garda Síochána was proud to take part in this year’s North West 200, one of the world’s most renowned motorcycle road races, to promote vital motorcycle safety messages alongside our colleagues from the PSNI, Scottish Police, and Derbyshire Police—all of whom are actively involved in the BikeSafe initiative.
Invited by the Police Service of Northern Ireland, our presence at the event marked an important step in strengthening cross-border cooperation in road safety. With thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts descending on the North Coast of Northern Ireland, the Garda Roads Policing Unit from Dublin Castle was delighted to engage with the public in such a high-energy and positive setting.

We proudly showcased our BMW M1000R, an advanced performance motorcycle now part of our fleet, alongside Advamced Garda motorcyclists who were on hand to answer questions, share safety tips, and engage with visitors of all ages. The interest and enthusiasm from the public was phenomenal—from young children getting their photo taken with the bike, to seasoned riders eager to hear about road safety initiatives and our collaborative work with BikeSafe.

The atmosphere throughout the event was electric, and the positive engagement with motorcyclists from across Ireland, UK and other parts of the world highlighted the growing importance of motorcycle safety. It was inspiring to see how committed riders are to improving their skills and awareness. The presence of multiple police agencies working together underscored a shared commitment to saving lives and preventing collisions.
We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to the PSNI for the invitation and warm welcome, and to our colleagues from Scotland and Derbyshire for the camaraderie and shared mission. Events like the North West 200 offer a powerful platform to reach riders in a meaningful way—and this year, it was clear that our message resonated.
